If so, have you tried putting the entire table in ERT? For this, there is a demo table in the threeparttablex package. That's where I would start, then try to go to a lyx table with ERT until it the source preview pane gives you about the same as it did with pure ERT. A minimal example would also be useful as suggested by John.
