Hi Helen, Although we did not introduce an actual horizontal scrollbar we improved horizontal scrolling with the cursor. See http://wiki.lyx.org/LyX/NewInLyX22#scroll If you would like to test this out, you can use the latest beta version of 2.2.0: ftp://ftp.lyx.org/pub/lyx/devel/lyx-2.2/2.2.0-latest It is just a test version so the usual warnings apply of be careful and backup.
