You can write a custom macro that chains the buffer-write and buffer-export LFUNs and bind it to some key combination. Then you need to remember to use that key combo whenever you save your file. You will need to specify an export format (e.g., pdflatex) in the buffer-export function. The LFUNs are detailed in Help > LyX Functions. Paul
