It is a packaging error. lyx.svg should not be in lyx_2.2.0-1~trusty~ppa3_amd64.deb, but in lyx- common_2.2.0-1~trusty~ppa3_amd64.deb. In case I missed something and the file was moved on purpose it was not done correctly: In this case the package lyx (version 2.2.0) needs to declare a conflict against lyx-common (versions older than 2.2.9). Then the package manager knows that the old lyx-common needs to be removed before installing thew new lyx. Georg
