Georg,
thanks for your comment.
I am still struggling a little bit with my texlive2016 installation.
When that is resolved I will turn to installing LyX 2.2 and then gladly revert to you.
Does not seem to be an easy task - never did a thing like that!?
Danke,
Michael

Hi all,
I have Mageia5 / KDE and just succeeded to install texlive2016.
The next challenge is to install Lyx 2.2 from http://www.lyx.org/Download

i am addressing those of you who already successfully did this.

Is there anything to be observed/prepared/considered prior to starting
the installation?
Since there is no binary package for Mageia5 you will need to compile from
source. This is easy, the file INSTALL in the LyX source package lists some
instructions. However, it might be a bit more difficult to find out how
exactly the prerequisite packages are called on Mageia5, e.g. the
development package for qt. If a prerequiste is missing then the configure
script will tell you, and if you don't find the correct package to install
then ask on the list, probably someone will know how to find the package
from the configure error message.
