You can put it in a bind file. Steps to implement:

  1. If necessary, check Tools > Preferences > Editing > Shortcuts > Bind
file to find the name of your bind file ("cua" in my case).

  2. Make a copy of the corresponding bind file in your local bind
directory. If you are using a standard bind file ("cua.bind" in my case),
you'll find it in the bind subdirectory under the "Library directory" in
Help > About LyX. (If you are using a customary bind file, you presumably
already know where it is.) The local bind directory is under your "User
directory" (again named in Help > About LyX).

  3. Add the shortcut to the copied bind file (using a text editor) and save it.

  4. Back to Tools > Preferences > Editing > Shortcuts > Bind, select your
custom file, and save.

If you only want to use it in selected documents, and don't want the
assigned key combination tied up in general, you'll need to remember to
switch the bind file selection whenever you change between using and not
using it. If you're willing to keep it around all the time, just stick with
the new bind file.
