OK. A good strategy is to read the error message and then at the very first part you get confused (this could be the first word in some cases), ask a specific question so that people can try to give you a specific answer. Otherwise it is easy to get overwhelmed. Can you please try the following: in LyX in the example document you sent which gives an error, can you go to Document > Settings and click on the text box in "Class Options" next to "Custom". Then put in "enabledeprecatedfontcommands". Click "OK", and try to compile. Does it work for you? Scott
