The way described in our beamer manual is much easier:

"There is a simple and much more convenient way to start a new frame:
Issue Edit->Start New Environment (Alt+P Return) if you are in a non-
nested Frame paragraph, or Edit->Start New Parent Environment (Alt+P
Shift+Return), respectively, if you are in a nested paragraph within
the frame!"
