"accent-circumflex" instead of exponent in math mode

Hi there!
In my new installation of LyX i got the problem that I always get an
"accent-circumflex" on the letter instead of an exponent in math mode. The
keytables seem to be allright as loadkey gives correct results!

Anyone got an idea? Thanks Uli
