Following interaction with the minted's maintainer, it now appears that LaTeX
is acting correctly, and the entire problem is caused by a LyX's bug, which was
apparently introduced in version 2.3 (2.2.3 does not seem to have this
problem). LyX seems to be misusing the \setminted instruction. For example,
\setminted{language=Python} is INVALID, according to the minted's maintainer,
who wrote: "There are no language or showstringspaces options. Those are for
the listings package, which is different than minted".

Hi, All:Attached is a minimal lyx 2.3 example that does not produce output
normally. It appears that the problem occurs in latex at the \setminted
instruction, which apparently is not recognized by TeX Live on Windows or
Linux. \setminted is used to set document-wide settings (the language whose
syntax is to be highlighted, in this example).
