My LyX version is 1.1.6fix1, I run on Slackware Linux (7.0 modified a bit).
I compiled LyX and, well it's really charming... but there is one problem.
I cannot type my national, Polish letters (iso-8859-2). I can read, cut and
paste them but not type. Every other application (mainly I use apps from KDE
2.1.1) works well. To get my Polish layout in them i use X server XKB
extension, sth like:
LeftAlt Meta
RightAlt ModeShift
...
XkbRules "xfree86"
XkbModel "pc105"
XkbLayout "pl"
XkbKeymap "xfree86(us)"
in /etc/XF86Config and no additional xmodmap files.
When tried to use LyX without any *.kmap's i get for example "ł" character
which looks like l with a stroke (I guess you don't read this with iso-8859-2
encoding set) when [Ralt]+3 are pressed (keysym : threesuperior), while it
should be under [Ralt]+l (keysym : lstroke).
When using polish kmap i get no Polish chars at all.
I tried to write my own kmap but it seems that keysyms like aogonek, Eogonek,
lstroke etc. are completely ignored...
Well I feel that the solution might be close, but can't get it. I've never
understood these X mechanisms well : - }
