It very much depends on (1.) your operating system and (2.) the PDF viewer. Adobe Reader on Windows (and the Mac probably) can display more multimedia content than most PDF viewers on Linux (even Adobe when that still existed for Linux). On the other hand, I learned that pdfpc (https://pdfpc.github.io/) worked surprisingly well on Linux at least with the companion package, https://www.ctan.org/pkg/pdfpc-movie.
