Thanks for all your help, but I am still having problems. I compiled lyx for my system
(Linux From Scratch 2.4.3
www.linuxfromscratch.org, kernel 2.2.17), and when I look in the file -> export or
file -> import the sub menus are empty.
Also, there is no view -> dvi either. I have looked in the preferences to see if I can
add the format and converters, but
I'm not certian what needs to be done there. Also, I looked at the latex
configureation help file and found that lyx does
not recognize anything about my version of tetex (1.0.7). I ran texhash, and
reconfigured lyx, but that does not help. I
have also compiled tetex myself, and maybe that is a problem.
I thought that maybe there was some option to give ./configure in order for it to find
tetex, but there wasn't that I could
see. I recompiled anyway just in case. Now lyx starts and immediately crashes with
these errors:
jlm /home/jlm 385>lyx

BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter)
Abort
I deleted my .lyx directory and now it just crashes:
jlm /home/jlm 421>lyx
BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter)
Abort
I am almost certian of what is happening. I run the Enlightenment window manager. It
has an option of remembering a windows
size (among other things). Since I don't like lyx's default size, I changed it, and
told Enlightenment to remember the size
whenever the program starts up. Lyx starts, but only fills the part of the window that
it assumes it has, its original size
not the size I have given it. Unfortunately the only way to "forget" what size the
window should start as is from a menu
that is accessed by right-clicking on the window border. I am unable to make
Enlightenment "forget" the window's size
before lyx crashes. Does anyone know a way around this, short of removing my
.enlightenment directory and starting from
scratch?
I compiled lyx with these commands:
./configure --prefix=/usr --with-gtkmm=/usr --with-included-gettext
make all
make install-strip
Any help with these problems would be greatly appreciated.
