I just installed LyX 2.4.0 on my computer, and it worked.
Then I thought I should update MikTeX... Last time was in April 2024; there were a number of updates. At the end of the update, I was told that the MikTeX console needed to close down. When I tried to re-start it, I get this error message: [cid:[email protected]] I'm then trying to *re-install* MikTeX, but am told I cannot do that in the default directory, because "the directory is not empty". So I try to *un-install* MikTeX, but then get the same error message as above. What on earth is going on? -B -----Original Message----- From: lyx-users <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Bernt Lie via lyx-users Sent: Saturday, June 1, 2024 9:03 PM To: Rich Shepard <[email protected]>; lyx-users <[email protected]> Subject: RE: LyX 2.4.0 Released! OK... the installer software on Windows suggested I should remove the old version. The "scary" part of this was whether "removing everything" in the process includes removing things that makes LyX 2.3.x work... Anyways, I un-installed LyX 2.4 RC4, and installed LyX 2.4. Both LyX 2.4 and LyX 2.3.7 seem to work. -B -----Original Message----- From: lyx-users <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> On Behalf Of Rich Shepard Sent: Saturday, June 1, 2024 6:21 PM To: lyx-users <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> Subject: Re: LyX 2.4.0 Released! On Slackware linux upgrading the existing version to a new one has no issues.
