Hello everyone,
I currently have 2.4.4, and using TeXLive, and have many ongoing

There was someone who initially set up everything for me and so I
don't quite understand why he did some things but it works so I don't
touch it.
So now when i went to install LyX 2.5 it wanted to install in
/progtamfiles, and it lookes like my 2.4.4 was installed someplace
else (not exactly sure where, is there a way to figure out?) so I
don't know if setting it up in the program files is going to work as
intended or mess some of my configurations/macros/shortcuts.
I am not on Windows, so I can only give you limited advice.
The LyX installer does, I believe, install LyX into \ProgramFiles. It
should therefore be possible to install 2.5 alongside 2.4. I believe
also that your 2.4 settings will be copied over into a new user
directory, and the old one will be left untouched. So installing 2.4
should not, I think, affect anything with 2.4. That said, it probably
would be a good idea to back up your 2.4 user directory before
installing 2.5. You can find out where it is by looking at Help> About LyX.
Your 2.4 files should continue to work just fine in 2.5. If they do not,
then that is a bug on our end.
