cite package

Hi folks,

I am trying to get citation labels like [1-3,6] instead of [1,2,3,6] in lyx
1.16fix2c/miktex under win98. I have installed the package cite and added
the command \usepackage{cite} in the preamble. This had no effect on the
output. any ideas?
