My Fault; mea culpa ...........
found the lyxrc.defaults file ... in /usr/local/src/lyx.............
and not where it should be in ~rudy/.lyx/.....
have to try again with the file in the correct place.
RTFM the next time!
will stand in the corner with the pointy dunce hat for a certain time.
try'd with the default failesettings --> still no good
will have to "play around" with the settings AND read the manual and the tutorial
my lyxrc.default is appended
