Multiline Mathed Bug??

Hi,

 From reading the manual I found that you can create multiline math 
functions by pressing control-enter in the mathed box.  But when I do it 
it doesn't seem to work.  Am I misreading the manual or is this a bug.

I'm using the version that comes with Debian SID.  Its version 1.1.6fix3.
