By "printing dialog" do you mean the dialog when you choose File->Print?
Also, on my box (Mandrake 8, using CUPS), it appears that
$ lpr -o sides=two-sided-long-edge filename
does not work as advertised, but instead prints 1 sided. I was able to set
the printer itself to duplex (at the printer's configure buttons physically
located on the printer) at which time my file printed out perfectly.
Hmmmmm???
