Why not emphasize the fat-free veggie-like behaviour of LyX, (as opposed to other word processors) and choose a pronunciation akin to: "leek" (for those who know about greek) or "lichi" (or leechee, litchi, however you call it), like in the chi2 test. "lix" in Latin is about clothe washing (if I remember well), but being pro-lix about LyX could be far too boring to anti-LyX people.
