Yes, this is a problem with 1.2.0.

PS: Instead of writing "II. THE CONFUCIAN TEXTS" in a Subsection* paragraph,
write "THE CONFUCIAN TEXTS" in a Subsection paragraph,
and put \reenewcommand{\thesection}{\Roman{section}} in the preamble.
