There is no support for macros in main text, > unfortunately. However, if you want to write custom environments, this can be done in a .layout file. (e.g. I wrote a quoted-list environment that indents a LyXlist by putting it into a quote environment) Have a look at the Extended guide (Section "adding new latex classes" (But be assured, you can have a new layout with additional LyX environments also for standard LaTeX classes)) and the files in LyX's layout directory.
