  For whatever reason, adding additional fonts is a complex, mystical
process. It's easier to install the Type1 versions, but I believe that it's
also possible to use TrueType fonts. Print and read
/usr/share/texmf/doc/fontinst/base/fontinst.dvi. That'll get you started.

  Use ImageMagick to convert from jpeg to eps, then you can place the image
as a float.
