(2) MLA style tells you *not* to use footnotes. Of course, you can't tell your professor this. But according to the Chicago Style Manual, using footnotes for references are a publisher's nightmare. They also break up the flow of text. Endnotes (or better yet, parenthetical references) are the preferred method for citations. I myself am trying to figure out how to do this.
