Hi,

I recently upgraded from version 1.1.4 to 1.1.6fix3 (from Debian testing
distribution). Although I like the new features I must say the new
version is less stable than the old one. As long as it manages to save
the document before it dies I can cope with that. However, when it died
an hour ago so horribly that it corrupted the emergency file I thought I
must tell someone.

I was editing a table, adding a column to be precise, when it happened.
LyX vanished and the xterm window filled with this message repeated
continuously until buffer overflow:

ERROR (LyXParagraph::writeFile): NULL char in structure.

If this problem hasn't already been reported can a developer please look
at that?

My other problem, apart from figure rendering which has already been
covered in other emails, is also to do with tables. For some reason LyX
has stopped handling table captions properly. When I open a new table
float and insert the table as the first thing in the caption line, the
table is inserted *in* the line rather than above it. The same happens
if I try inserting it after typing something first. I can move it below
the caption line by inserting a line break, but then the table is
left-aligned.

I believe it is some sort of bug, because the first table float I
created after *upgrading* worked just fine. Now the only way to create
another one like that, even in new and existing documents, is to copy it
and then edit to my liking (that's how my LyX crashed, BTW). Has anyone
had a similar problem or knows a quick fix?

Cheers,

Marcin
