RedHat 7.2 xforms probs

Hi,   I have been trying to install the latest stable version of lyx on a Redhat7.2 linux installation. The first problem is that it says it requires xforms >=0.88. This is no problem since there is a link to version 0.89 in rpm format from the lyx page. But however this installs libsforms.so.0.89 which lyx doesnt seem to like. I tried installing an earlier version of xforms, 0.88 but it had a lot of conflicts with other files on the computer and i couldnt get that to install.   Has anyone got any tips, i havent been using linux for long so im a little unsure about installing loads of stuff which reports conflicts since im pretty sure if things go tits up i wont be able to fix it!   Thanks for you time.
