Can anyone share some hints or point me to some examples on how to do
tri-fold brochures with LyX?

I have tried the (LaTeX) multicol package for three columns, but I want to
choose where it wraps (to the next column). I have read the multicol
example and am still trying the examples.

\begin{multicols}{3}
my 94 words (662 characters) of text here...
\end{multicols

The above is centered in the middle of the page and is three columns.
I want it to only use the first column until there is enough text (and/or
figures) to continue to the next column.

My needs:
 - landscape mode (using 8.5in X 11in paper);
 - each column will be approximately be about 2.75 inches (7 cm) wide by
   7.5 inches (20 cm) talll
 - text will only go to next column when it has filled current column;
 - some way to force end of column and to start at next column (even if
   current column is not full).
 - hopefully, be able to wrap text around figures.

By the way, I have tried xfig and tgif which don't support multi-line
textboxes very well and impress which is difficult to add and edit
multi-line textboxes. And they don't support linking of text to next
textbox. And they have no capabilities for different fonts and character
attributes within one textbox. LyX would be great for a tri-fold brochure
because it has spelling support, can provide multiple fonts, and can
rejustify text, etc.

After, I figure this out, I'd like to create and submit a Document Class
for "tri-fold brochures".

I am currently using LyX Version 1.1.6fix1 (via NetBSD package).

Thanks,
