Here's a puzzle, and since I've seen Russian users on the list, hopefully
I'll get an easy answer. I want to write in Russian, but whenever I do so
under LyX, nothing happens. That is, no cursor movement, no "?" (as happens
when I forget to switch keymaps fomr Russian to English and then type in
Konsole), nothing. My next step was to make sure that my system was capable
of displaying Russian. I have the following in my ~/.lyx/preferences:
\screen_font_encoding koi8-r
\kbmap true
\kbmap_primary american
\kbmap_secondary russian
\bind "Pause" "keymap-toggle"
However, when I start it up (from Konsole, so I can see what's going on
behind the scene), I get:
"LyX: LyX: Keymap `russian' not found [around line 73 of file
~/.lyx/preferences]Unable to open character set file"
Ok, I'm running a fairly typical Debian setup, I can type in Russian in
other programs, so the X keymap is fine...I can only conclude that LyX uses
another keymap other than X. Hitting the "pause" button does not do anything;
same with changing the keymap under KDE.
On a side note, I can view Russian text in Lyx just fine--I can open the
"ru_splash.lyx" file found in /usr/share/lyx/examples and see it in all its
Cyrillic glory.
Any hints?
Thanks,
:Peter
