math text is too light

Hi,

I'm having a small problem -  the math text that I get in the output is too 
light, I mean it's readable but say I defined a \mathbf{x} to denote 
a  vector x. The output (both pdf and ps) have this x pretty light and it 
doesn't look like a vector (not "bold" enough)... And in general, all the 
math text is pretty light. Any suggestions on how to make the math text darker?
