Hi everyone,

thanks to all the kind people who offered suggestions. First
of all, the screen dpi is set correctly in lyx and XF86
configurations - otherwise the main Lyx sceen would get messed
up, and it is just fine.

So the problem is specifically Xforms. I have not been able
to fix this in the preferences, by trying other fonts for
popups and menus - in fact, this tends to make all menus
go blank until you delete .lyx.

Allan Rae suggests to me that this is a permanent problem in
Xforms, and I have to wait till GUII arrives, REAL SOON NOW!
So, here is an excellent reason for GUII - high-res LCD screens
aren't going away!

If any .de lyxers want to see the symptoms, I'll be at Uni
of Erlangen in Bavaria for a year on a Humboldt award - happy
to buy beer for hardworking developers. Ich bemuehe mich Deutsch
auch lernen.

Peter Drummond.
