just in case, anybody needs it:
\renewcommand{\normalcolor}{\color{mycolourdefinition}}
this works, because of this definition in latex.ltx
{\normalcolor\vrule \@width\columnseprule}
I suppose with this redefinition there might be loads of unexpected
sideeffects, though I don't have any :-)
