Unfortunately, there are no plans to incorporate either of these in
the near future, AFAIK. You can, of course, change the font with
LaTeX code (aka Evil Red Text). See "Using different Fonts in LyX"

Thanks for the link Robin.. I guess ERT is the only way then.. (which isn't too bad I guess).. my main problem (one that I've posted to the list earlier) right now is that I like CM fonts and though CM looks great on the screen, these appear a bit light on paper when printed with a 600dpi printer. I wonder if there's a way to make it a bit thicker... maybe the METAFONT book will have some tips.. I'll take a look at it over the summer...
