There were a couple of patches that were more experimental than they
should have been in pre4. Probably was related to when an empty
paragraph gets swallowed up (known by the developers as the infamous
deleteEmptyParagraphMechanism or DEPM).

I think they are ironed out now - try pre5 (yes, rebuild /again/ !)
