lyx-1.2 and accents

Hi,

In lyx 1.1.6 I used to create accents by clicking on the bar below and
typing a command (like accent-umlaut). In lyx 1.2 I'm not able to use
the bar to use it as a commandline input anymore.

Does anyone knows how I can get accents in lyx 1.2?
