Brazilian Language

Dear All
I'm running Lyx in my RedHat 7.3. The problem is that I dont know how I procced in 
order to use accents direclty from the Keyboard, i.e., the latex c{c},  ~{a} commands 
and so on.
Any help Will be very appreciated.
