having used lyx on and off over a period of years now, i found that i had to
issue preamble commands in order to do something "cool".

and watching this list also shows that many solutions use non-obvious "magic
preambles".

the example below is just another one.... i wonder if there is a central
document or website that summarises or describes the preambles... for
novices like me?
