cite is no longer working after update to 1.2.0

Hi,

I am a Newbie at LyX. I start to write a report with 1.1.6. I updated to 
1.2.0. Now my citations no longer work. In the output i have something like:
"some text"[?,text afterwards]

With 1.1.6 it worked properly.

My Latex-Praeamble is:
\usepackage{german}
\usepackage[latin1]{inputenc}
\frenchspacing
\usepackage{cite}

my System is SuSE 7.3. I do not use bibtex, cite.sty or something like that.  

any hints ?
