I'm in the midst of migrating from Solaris-8 to a MacOS 10.2 box, and
for an old Unix hand the learning curve is steep.

I set up teTeX, xdvi, and LyX, and have run into an apparent impass. If
I set the environment variable TEXMF to /usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf
xdvi runs perfectly and can generate its fonts via mktekpk as needed.
But having TEXMF set breaks LyX -- the various viewers disappear from
the View menu.

I don't really understand what is going on, and would welcome
suggestions of how I can get both LyX and xdvi fully functional.

Thanks,

Ronald
