Steve> I'm using LyX 1.1.6fix4 on Mandrake 8.2. There are known problems with dependency tracking with gcc 2.96 when compiling lyx with optimization level -O2. It seems that compiling with -O (which is the default in 1.2.x) fixes these problems. Details in http://bugzilla.lyx.org/show_bug.cgi?id=545 JMarc
