In latex, we have \end{some-env} for all environments. In lyx, end of
an environment is done by starting another environment. This is why
standard is an environment in lyx (but not in plain latex).
Therefore, to separate two definitions, we need to change to standard
environment, insert something that will not be displayed, and change to
definition environment again.
Something similar to 'end environment' can be done but is not very
consistent with the current ways of dealing with environments. I doubt
if this problem is in the bug/wish list of lyx. We can try to put this
in the wish list though.
