Couldn't agree more with you Robin.. and CM is the only font I use.. cos
the output on screen is great and cos I can live with the lighter output
on my 600 DPI printer.. but it just seems so much better (to me at
least) when I print out the same document on a 1200 DPI printer at
school.. 

Related info: I contacted the developer of the cm-super package and he
liked the idea of generating slightly darker cm-super fonts.. said he'll
try to implement it sometime early next year.. I'd been able to generate
darker output by changing the metafont mode and regenerating the fonts..
that was on my windows machine in cygwin.. for some mysterious reason
the same approach isn't working on my Linux machine.. :-(
