If it's a postscript printer, then there is probably some non-standard/printer-incompatible postscript in your output --- this is why the latest is not always the greatest. Star/OpenOffice have serious problems here. With latex, I found that ps printers (HP lasers) can't handle some compressed image formats (png, jpeg) that have been converted to eps (with ImageMagik "convert" or the Gimp). So I always convert images to xpm before converting to eps.
