I don't know anything about keyboard mapping, but a tip is that you start
lyx from a terminal with a debug flag:
>lyx -dbg
will list the supported debug flags, but you probably want to start it
with:
>lyx -dbg key
and/or
>lyx -dbg kbmap
and then look at the output. Hopefully that will give you some ideas about
what's happening.
