I have installed both... I think is similar, in the sence of functionality. In the lyx-1.3.0 xforms-frontend have one more graphics format which can be inserted than of Qt (or in apposite, I forgetted). Qt have flexibility to choose fonts in the screen. Xform is more difficult to do this... but there is not important in sence of type setting capability. | I successfully compiled v1.3 with qt but had some problems displaying | latin-2 characters on the screen and I really really don't feel like | tweaking it endlessly (no problems in KDE, though). Since xforms version | works out of the box with latin-2, I dropped qt and recompiled xforms. Am I | missing something? Some killer feature? :-) You should install a ttfont for computer modern font in your computer. This font can be downloaded through lyx website. I'm sorry, I forgetted the link... Wayan
