Concerning heavy features as CAS support: This is not just getting the idea to work (you can compute 1+2 or similar using Maple or Mathematica or Octave from within LyX already), but this is a awful lot of work. Our resources are limited. Nobody can work full time on LyX except in rare cases like the Change Tracking support when somebody donates 'extra resources'.
