It's a bug in old versions of prosper (try checking out the bug reports on SourceForge). If it is not fixed in any of the released versions it is definitely fixed in the cvs. "
I find this suprising as I am using the latest prosper class file that I have seen (prosper.cls,v 1.1.1.1 2002/09/21 12:48:46) and also there is a message on the mailing list on the same saying don't use the CVS version :)
I haven't got time to test it now but I thought I'd let you know. In any case Christian modification of the prosper.layout file seems to fix it without touching the class file.
