What do you exactly mean? Why do
you have to install/uninstall all these
gcc's? In Ronalds Website

http://www.18james.com/lyx_on_osx.html

you will find all explanations how
to compile LyX on a PowerPC.
Ronald documentation is VERY well
and carefully written - and has all
details you need on this! It also generalizes
quite well to Linux/PPC from my
experience...

To surpass a bug in gcc2.95.3-PowerPC-,
-that generates a LyX faulty binary-
I installed gcc3.0.1 under:
/opt/experimental/;this rpm includes
all the GNU Compiler Collection.Also
I uninstalled gcc,gpp etc. which were
installed.
When compiling LyX1.3.2 the configure
script does not recognise Qt and tells:

...
checking for Qt library name...failed
configure:error:Cannot compile a simple
Qt executable.Check you have the right
$QTDIR!

I uninstalled gcc3.0.1 and installed
the compilers that were there (That
was the only change)and the configure
script no more warns about it and
recognises Qt and goes on.
Because I need to compile with a non
2.95.3 gcc version,how do I surpass
this?

NOTE: Obviously,I added
/opt/experimental/bin to my PATH.I
also added /opt/experimental/lib to
ld.so.conf and run ldconfig so what
is the problem here ?There is some-
thing I should have done when I
installed gcc3.0.1 that I didnt but
I dont realise what.
I would appreciate a suggestion.

Thank you.
