I tested it and found it to be lacking in some aspects. If I still
remember correctly, the main problem was with the internal
crossreferences in the bibtex-file, which did not work but in
exceptional cases.

However, a better solution for this and many, many other reference &
bibliography issues especially concerning legal studies and humanities,
is the jurabib package (www.jurabib.org). It is mightily configurable,
and easy to use; especially nice is the feature to include the full
bibliographic information in the footnote at the first time when a work
is cited, and later use an abbreviation: a habit which is in wide use in
the humanities. Heartily recommended, and surprisingly easy to use with
LyX, while all the necessary definitions can be made in the preamble.
Just be sure to include the babel package before jurabib.sty. Languages
this far covered by jurabib include English, German, French, Spanish,
Italian, Dutch, Norvegian, and in the near future, hopefully at least
Finnish.

Greetings,

Harri K.
