I don't think he meant "primitive" as in "easy to perform". If I
understood correctly, he meant "primitive" as in "a core operation that
many people will want to perform on their document". That is as opposed
to "replacing the word 'picnic' with the german for 'sandwich' and
highlighting it in blue", for example. That might well be described as
"non-primitive" :)
