I run Redhat 9.0 on x686 with a networked printer HP Laserjet 1300, which has an internal hardware print server. The printer is set up and runs fine with the usual array of KDE applications, OOo etc but when trying to print from LyX I get an error message:
Error: Unable to print. Check that your parameters are correct. If I look in LyX: Preferences: Printer I find: Printer name : hp1300n Adapt output (is checked) Printer command: lpr Even pages: -B Odd Pages: -A Page range: -pp Collated: -C Copies: -c Landscape: -t landscape Reverse: -r To file: -o To Print: -P Extra options: >empty< File extension: .ps Spool prefix: -d Spool coomand: lp Paper size: -T Paper type: -t ... now Im not much of a linux buff and certainly Ive had some trouble getting the networked printer up and running (actually Im not sure how I did it), but its a Postscript printer, I know that much ;-) Ive already read the PRINTER chanpter of Custermizing Lyx, but havent found a solution. My printcap file looks like this: # This file was automatically generated by cupsd(8) from the # /etc/cups/printers.conf file. All changes to this file # will be lost. hp1300n: The printers.conf looks like this: # Printer configuration file for CUPS v1.1.17 # Written by cupsd on Thu 07 Aug 2003 09:25:02 PM GMT <DefaultPrinter hp1300n> Info Created by redhat-config-printer 0.6.x DeviceURI socket://192.168.1.103:9100:9100 Location State Idle Accepting Yes JobSheets none none QuotaPeriod 0 PageLimit 0 KLimit 0 </Printer> Hope someone can help me ... Kind regards Soren O'Neill, Denmark
